While US OCRE just launched in July of 2020, we are a continuation of the OCRE project launched by the East Africa Charitable Projects Fund in 2018. Since receiving start up funds from EACPF, OCRE has been able to:
2024 (as of November, 2024)
- Covered tuition for 3 terms for 56 children, including some scholastic materials, personal effects for children, medical care, and support for community members
- Supported 3 youth to enter trade school, 1 is in University!
- Updated the website
- Fund raising goal per term is now $2,800
- Total funding sent to Uganda since 2020 > $22,000!
2023
- Covered tuition for 3 terms for 56 children, including some scholastic materials, personal effects for children, medical care, and support for community members
- 2 youth successfully graduated from their secondary school
- Received nonprofit status at the end of the year
- Updated the website
2022
- Covered most of tuition for 3 terms for 56 children, including some scholastic materials, personal effects for children, medical care, and support for community members
- Updated the website
2021
- Covered tuition for 1 term for all 63 children, including some scholastic materials, personal effects for children
- Covered medical costs for some of the children (a few struggling with malaria)
- Provided some food to elders in the villages in need
- Provided $100 in funding to support the building of a safer home for one of the elderly women connected to the project (Martha Ajinni)
- Raised $3,617. Donated $1,460
July-December 2020
- Launched USOCRE
- Built fundraising website and registered USOCRE with the State of NH.
- Raised $1,100, Donated $1,100
Prior 2020 (work carried out by EACPF and OCRE)
- Identified 63 children in need of educational supports, provided tuition, school uniforms, and materials needed for participation.
- Enrolled interested children in Catechist classes.
- Transitioned 10 children from primary school to secondary school. One is studying carpentry at a vocational school, and many children have developed great interest in studying at vocational schools to study courses like electricity, plumbing, building, tailoring, catering, carpentry etc. so that they can quickly become self-reliant
- improve performance of class work observed among supported students.
